1. Who We Are

DiskieReels is a football-focused short-video and social community operated by SeMo Group, with its principal office in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. SeMo Group is the controller or responsible party for personal information processed through DiskieReels.

For South African users, SeMo Group is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer or privacy representative can be contacted at semogrouptech@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

We may collect account and profile details, email address, encrypted authentication credentials, username, photographs, biography, country, user content, football reels, thumbnails, descriptions, hashtags, audio, comments, messages, attachments, verification applications, support communications, transaction identifiers, purchase history, payout information, surveys and promotion entries.

Information collected automatically

We may collect screens and features used, reels watched, watch duration, searches, categories, clicks, uploads, downloads, advertising interactions, session timestamps, device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, network type, IP address, crash logs, diagnostics, installation identifiers and push-notification tokens.

Device permissions

With your permission, DiskieReels may access photos, videos, files or media, camera, microphone, notifications and network access. Permissions are requested when required by a feature and can be withdrawn in device settings.

Third parties

We may receive information from authentication providers, hosting and messaging providers, app stores, payment providers, advertising and measurement partners, and other users. Current services may include Supabase, OneSignal and Google Play services.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure accounts; operate feeds, search, profiles, comments, messages, downloads and notifications; personalize recommendations; communicate with users; support creators, advertising and monetization; improve performance; prevent fraud, abuse and illegal content; comply with law; enforce our Terms; and administer SeMo Group. Where required, processing is based on contract, consent, legitimate interests or legal obligation.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as described in this Policy or at your direction. Recipients may include contracted service providers, other users and the public for public content, creators, advertisers and partners for campaign measurement, authorities where legally required, and parties involved in a legitimate corporate transaction. Providers must apply appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

5. Advertising and Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

DiskieReels may display advertisements, sponsored reels or branded content. We do not sell identifiable personal information for money. Some advertising or measurement may be considered targeted advertising, sharing or a sale under certain laws. Where applicable, you may opt out through available controls or by contacting semogrouptech@gmail.com. We do not knowingly sell or share for cross-context behavioural advertising the personal information of users under 16.

6. De-identified and Aggregated Information

We may create de-identified or aggregated statistics such as reel views, category trends, completion rates, creator performance, regional audience figures, moderation trends and campaign reach. We use this information for analytics, safety, research, product development and lawful business purposes and do not attempt to re-identify it except to test safeguards where permitted.

7. International Data Transfers

Information may be stored or processed in South Africa, the United States, the European Economic Area and other countries where SeMo Group or its providers operate. Where required, we use contractual safeguards, data-processing agreements, Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions or equivalent POPIA mechanisms.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for service delivery, safety, disputes, accounting and legal compliance. Account and profile information is generally kept while an account is active and for a limited period afterward. Deleted content may temporarily remain in backups, caches, moderation records or copies retained by other users.

Raw diagnostics and activity logs are generally retained for up to 12 months unless needed longer for security, fraud prevention or law. Transaction and tax records are kept for legally required periods. De-identified information may be retained indefinitely.

You may request deletion through the app’s Privacy Center where available or by emailing semogrouptech@gmail.com. We may verify account ownership before completing a request.

9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to or obtain a portable copy of personal information; withdraw consent; opt out of targeted advertising or certain sharing; and appeal a denied request. You may edit profile information, manage notifications, control messages where available, unfollow, block, report, delete content or request account deletion. 10. Region-Specific Disclosures

South Africa

Under POPIA, South African users may request notice, access, correction or deletion, object to processing, withdraw consent and complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland

Applicable users may access, correct, erase, restrict or port information, object to legitimate-interest processing, withdraw consent and complain to a supervisory authority.

United States

Residents of states with applicable privacy laws may have rights to confirm processing, access, correct, delete, port and opt out of targeted advertising, qualifying profiling, sale or sharing.

Canada and Quebec

Canadian users may request access and correction, withdraw consent subject to legal limits, and complain to the appropriate privacy authority. We honour mandatory rights in other regions.

11. Children and Teen Users

DiskieReels is not directed to children under 13 or a higher minimum age required locally. We do not knowingly collect information from children below the applicable age and will take reasonable steps to delete it. Parents or guardians may contact us. Teen users should not publish private contact details, school information, precise location, financial information or other sensitive material.

12. User Content, Downloads, and Copyright

Public reels may be viewed, shared, embedded or downloaded where creator and product settings allow. Downloads may contain a DiskieReels watermark, creator username or branded ending screen. Users must have the rights to upload music, video, logos and other content. We may process copyright complaints, remove infringing content and preserve complaint records.

13. Safety and Content Moderation

DiskieReels uses reporting, blocking, moderation, rate-limiting and anti-abuse tools. Automated systems and human review may help identify spam, harmful content, impersonation, fake engagement, account compromise and violations of our Terms or Community Guidelines. We may restrict or remove content and retain enforcement records to prevent repeat abuse and review appeals.

14. Security

We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards including encryption in transit, authentication, access controls, database security rules, monitoring, backups, vendor review and incident-response procedures. No service can guarantee absolute security. Use a strong unique password, protect your device and report suspected compromise promptly. We will provide legally required breach notifications.

15. Third-Party Links and Services

DiskieReels may link to creator sites, advertisers, sponsors, app stores, social platforms and other services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. Review those notices before providing information.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy for new features, providers, laws or practices. The updated date will appear at the top. For material changes, we will provide appropriate notice through the app, website, email or another channel before the change takes effect where required.
